13 killed in katsina community bandits’ attack, Police Commissioner sympathises with families of victims as investigation commences

Thirteen people lost their lives on Tuesday ( 3 February, 2026) when bandits struck at Doma village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Spokesman for the State Police Command,DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development.

He said the State Police Commissioner, Bello Shehu had commiserated with families of victims , adding that investigation had also commenced to unravel circumstances surrounding the incident with a view to bringing perpetrators to book.

The Command’s spokesman’s statement read” On February 3rd, 2026, at about 1400 hrs, a distress call was received at Faskari Division that some suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically, attacked Doma village, Faskari LGA, Katsina State.

“Upon receipt of the report, quickly, the DPO mobilised operatives, in collaboration with the military, and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) responded to the scene.

” Unfortunately, the assailants have fatally shot 13 persons and escaped the scene before the arrival of the operatives.

” Normalcy has since been restored to the affected area as investigations have since commenced with a view to unravelling the circumstances surrounding the incident and arresting the perpetrators.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, comisserate with the families and friends of the victims of the unfortunate attack, and equally condemned the attack. He further directed the deployment of additional resources towards the rapid investigation and arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
