Police arrest three suspected vandals, recover electric cable in Katsina

In a sustained effort against the vandalisation and theft of public infrastructure, the Katsina State Police Command has arrested three suspected vandals and recovered stolen electrical cables alongside other exhibits.

The Command’s spokesman, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development on Friday.

He explained ” On August 2, 2026, at about 8:30 PM, operatives attached to the Rimi Division, while on routine patrol in Rimi LGA, in collaboration with local community members, intercepted and arrested three suspects found in possession of suspected stolen electrical cables.

The suspects are: Mansur Suleiman, m, 23;
Mansur Hamza, m, 21, and Jibrin Ahmed, m, 28,

” During preliminary investigation, a search of the suspects led to the recovery of the following exhibits:

60 metres of 100mm electric cable wire (suspected stolen);
One hacksaw; One pair of scissors
One knife; Criminal charms;
One motorcycle, and
dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

” The suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

Aliyu said the State Police Commissioner, Ali Umar Fage, commended the community for their vigilance and active cooperation with the Police in combating vandalism.

He warned individuals involved in the theft and destruction of public or private property to desist immediately, emphasising that anyone engaging in such acts will face the full weight of the law.
