Operatives of Katsina police command have arrested four men alleged to be drug traffickers.
They were arrested while attempting to smuggle hard drugs to the neighbouring Niger Republic.
The men whose identities were also revealed, were picked up on Friday, 16 May, 2025.
The spokesman for the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday.
His words “On May 16th, 2025, at about 1400 hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in arresting four (4) suspected drug traffickers in possession of illicit drugs.
“The suspects: Aliyu Idris, m, age 23; Abubakar Sa’idu, m., age 20, all of Kofar Kwaya; Abubakar Suleiman, m, age 25; Tajuddeen Umar, m, age 35, of Sabuwar Unguwa, all of Sabuwar Unguwa, Katsina State, were arrested at Kofar Guga garage while attempting to smuggle some illicit drugs to Maradi in neighbouring Niger Republic.
“Upon instant search, five thousand (5,000) pieces of Exol tablets and four hundred and thirty (430) pieces of Tramadol tablets were recovered in the suspects’ possession.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and further revealed to have gotten the exhibits from a supplier simply identified as Abba, m, of FCT Abuja, who is currently at large. Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the supplier and bring him to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, commends the operatives for a job well done and reaffirms the command’s commitment towards combating drug-related offences in the state as well as all other forms of crime and criminality.
“Furthermore, he called on members of the public to support the crime-fighting efforts of the command by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the command.”
