A combined team of security operatives in katsina state made up of troops of Nigerian Army, the police, members of state community watch corps, special and local hunters has rescued seventeen passengers in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred at Solar General Area of the council.
Governor Dikko Radda’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed confirmed the development on Sunday .
He gave details of the incident thus” A prompt response by a combined security force has resulted in the successful rescue of 17 abducted male passengers from the clutch of violent extremists in the Solar General Area of Batsari LGA,
Katsina State.
“According to a credible military source, the recorded success follows a distress call received on May 11, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m.
“Consequently, the Nigerian Army Team 9 troops, in collaboration with the Katsina Police Command, State Community Watch Corps, Special Hunters, and local hunters from Batsari, swiftly mobilized and deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the combined security forces engaged the violent extremists in a firefight.
“Overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the security forces, the extremists abandoned their abductees and fled into the surrounding nearby bush. All the abducted passengers were successfully rescued and have been released to the officials of Batsari LGA, the military source revealed.
“The troops he said remain actively deployed in the general area of Katsina State to deter further criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.”
