The Nigeria Police Force on Friday began the orderly trial of its personnel captured in viral videos when they threatened to shoot three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Lagos State according to Lagos Police Command Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Giving an update on the issue in a separate post on X, Benjamin Hundeyin wrote: “The men have been summoned and their trial has commenced.

“We urge the complainants to visit the Complaint Response Unit at the State Headquarters to testify at the ongoing trial.”

In the viral videos posted on X by one Oluyemi Fasipe on Thursday evening, a police officer is seen asking for the car documents from the vehicle’s occupants while threatening them with a gun.

In one of the videos, an officer is also heard saying, “This one is fighting me, I give myself to gun, somebody give me gun, carry me come here and you are putting hand on me like this.”

The officers, also instructed someone to remove the car owner’s licence plate in the video while the victims also claimed that one million naira was extorted from them.

This is a proof that police is listening to the people as a way of positive response which will build public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Complaints with evidences should be channeled to the police for investigations rather than people taking laws into their hands.

Katsina Mirror will follow up with updates and keep you informed as the orderly trial proceeds.
