Efforts to uplift the tertiary institutions across Katsina State have received the desired boost as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, has enlisted Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management, KSTIM, as a beneficiary of the federal government agency’s interventions.
The approval for enlistment is contained in a letter, No TET/ES/POLY/KSTIM/2023 VOL.1, dated May 16, 2023, signed by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono.
The letter read in part: “Sequel to your application for enlistment as a TETFund beneficiary and our subsequent verification visit to your institution, the Hon. Minister of Education, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, has approved the enlistment of your institution, KSTIM, as one of the beneficiaries of TETFund interventions.”
Echono said the enlistment qualifies the institution for Annual Direct Disbursement (ADD) allocations and any other support that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act No. 16 0f 2011 empowers the fund to provide for its beneficiaries.
The Executive Secretary, represented by the Director, Strategic Planning and Development of TETFund, Arch. Inene Erivwo, presented the letter to the Rector of KSTIM, Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba, yesterday.
Albaba, in a statement by the Head, Information and Public Relation, of KSTIM, Aminu Magaji Idris, and made available to KATSINA MIRROR, attributed the enlistment to the rapid development being recorded by the institute sequel to the commitment and consistency by the Rector and his management team towards making it a role model among its contemporaries in the country.
“The Rector’s dedication and desire to uplift the education standard of the institute enabled the state government to expand its academic activities, which called for the amendment of the institute’s law in 2021 to enable it attain a dual status of Polytechnic and Innovation Enterprise Institute which in turn paved its way to qualify as the beneficiary of the TETFund intervention,” he stated.
