The rank of Katsina State Government Tuesday swelled when the State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, approved the appointment of Aminu Abdulmumini Kabir, Magajin Garin Katsina and eldest son of the Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, as Chairman of Katsina Pilgrims Welfare Board.

This is the highpoint of the ongoing “strategic realignment and adjustment” after the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state was defeated by the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in February 25 presidential election in the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Muntari Lawal, Gov. Masari affirmed that the appointment of Aminu Abdulmumini Kabir as recognition of his (appointee’s) outstanding qualities and performance exhibited at different capacities in the service of the people of the state.

While congratulating the appointee, the governor charged him to put in his best and vast experience in the overall welfare of the state pilgrims.

Recall that the appointment came barely 24 hours after the state government terminated the service of Yusuf Barmo as chairman of the pilgrims’ welfare board over alleged anti-party activities.

Katsina Mirror gathered that the activities of Barmo and three other top functionaries of the government that were sacked on Monday reportedly contributed to the victory of the main opposition party in the recent general elections.
